The original Santo Domingo Health Station was located in the pueblo village proper as a 1500 sq. ft. facility. Limited ambulatory care services were provided to about 15 patients in the morning and afternoon. The current primary structure of the Santo Domingo Health Center was built and completed by SDP in 2006, with expansions for added clinical and administration space completed in 2016 and 2020.

In November 2011, the Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation was awarded a P.L. 93-638, Title I Indian Self Determination Contract from the Indian Health Service to provide medical, dental, behavioral health, optometry, patient benefits, PRC, podiatry, pediatric care, audiology, and other specialty care services to the community. In 2013 and 2014, the corporation undertook their 1st strategic planning process and evolved to more specific goals in 2016, with an updated strategy in 2019.

KPHC is governed by a seven (7) member Health Board who are delegated authority through charter by the Tribal Council of the Santo Domingo Pueblo. The KPHC Health Board is responsible for the development of this strategic plan and for the hiring of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee day-to-day operations in the implementation of this Strategic Plan.

We are adult healthcare professionals who uphold the standards of our profession.

We honor the rights of our patients and act in their best interests at all times.

We fulfill our roles in a larger system of care, towards a common goal, to the best of our abilities.

We do what we say we will do, when we say we will do it, without exception.

We strive to see, feel and understand what our patients do when they are in our care.

We embrace community education and prevention as essential to lasting patient health.

We have the courage to make mistakes and recognize learning opportunities in our positions.

We know everyone who walks through our doors is our relative, and we treat them that way.

We look to initiate positive change rather than wait for change to be forced on us.

We extend the same level of respect we hold for ourselves to everyone we serve.

We always do the very best we can do in the situations we find ourselves in with the information available.
