Meeting

Quality Management Improvement Department

Welcome to Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation's Quality Management & Improvement (QMI) page! We are pleased that you have chosen to learn more about our ongoing quality efforts. KPHC is committed to ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality patient care in a safe environment. The QMI Department monitors, evaluates and helps improve operational processes/results that affect patient care across a wide range of programs. The demands and requirements of the healthcare industry change almost daily, and our QMI program works closely with our providers and administration to provide our patients with the highest possible quality of care.

Six Domains of Health Care Quality

In order to create measurable goals for the organization, KPHC has adopted the six domains of healthcare quality from the Institute of Medicine (IOM). These six domains are as follows:

Safety: Avoiding harm to patients from the care that is intended to help them.

Effective: Providing services based on scientific knowledge to all who could benefit and refraining from providing services to those not likely to benefit (avoiding underuse and misuse, respectively).

Patient-centered: Providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.

Timely: Reducing waits and sometimes harmful delays for both those who receive and those who give care.

Efficient: Avoiding waste, including waste of equipment, supplies, ideas and energy.

Equitable: Providing care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location and socioeconomic status.
